Andrew "Andy" Hunsick
August 21, 1951 – January 5, 2025
Andrew "Andy" Hunsick, 73, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from complications following a stroke and an infection. Known for his adventurous spirit, love of animals, and generous heart, Andy left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Andy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 21, 1951, and grew up in Skokie. He graduated from Loyola Academy High School in 1969 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University in 1973. Andy went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Marquette University Law School in 1976 and a Master's in Taxation from John Marshall Law School in 1979.
Andy began his career as an assistant attorney for the City of Janesville and worked in private practice before joining Milwaukee County Corporation Counsel's Office, where he worked until 2000. He later transitioned into the tax and accounting industry, serving as a Master Tax Advisor at H&R Block until his passing.
Andy's legacy extends far beyond his professional accomplishments. A kid at heart, he had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, often through thoughtful gestures like finding the perfect gifts or sharing stories and laughter. He loved life's simple pleasures, especially time spent at the family lake house in Waupaca, Wisconsin, where he enjoyed boating, tubing down the river, and paddling along the Crystal River.
Andy had a deep love for sports and music. He was a passionate golfer, a loyal Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Chiefs fan, and a proud marshal at the U.S. Open and Ryder Cup. His favorite music, particularly the Rolling Stones and hard rock bands like AC/DC, brought him endless joy and connection. He also loved attending rugby reunions and was a longtime member of the Jaycees.
Andy's home was always filled with the warmth of animals he loved and cared for, including his beloved dog, Curly, and the many cats he rescued over the years.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Josephine (Calderone) Hunsick; his younger brother, Robert Hunsick; and his loving partner of 30 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Scopp, who passed away in July 2024.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Derek Schultz and Carla Schultz, and their families, including grandchildren Christopher, Brandon, Cameron, and Gabriella, as well as great-grandchildren Aurora and Amiko. Andy also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Bill Scopp; sister-in-law, Tammy Scopp; nieces Rylee Scopp (Brandon Zickler), Anna Scopp (Jimmy Euston), and Grace Scopp (Jake Wojtas); and his great-nephew, Leo Zickler.
Andy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, clients, and colleagues, who will remember his humor, kindness, and zest for life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Andy's name may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society, honoring his love for animals.
