Obituary

Dominic Joseph Radanovich, age 85, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, died on October 7, 2023 after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer.  Joseph was born on November 6, 1938 to Joseph John Radanovich and Susan Francis (nee Paprocki) Radanovich Klister.  He will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him, including his three beloved cats.

As a young man Joseph studied piano with Sophie Charlotte Gaebler (1862-1954) a student of Franz Liszt.  After High School he entered the Basilian Monastery in Alberta, Canada, followed by a stint in the U.S. Air Force.  In Milwaukee he established Radanovich and Associates Pipe Organ Builders.

Joseph was truly a Renaissance person with interests in classical music, all things related to pipe organ building and playing, musical composition, Christian history and theology, world geography, trains and model railroading.  His life-long interest in Native American Studies, especially the Lakota People, motivated him to donate his time to rebuild and install a used pipe organ in the Our Lady of the Sioux Chapel at St. Joseph's School for Indian Children in Chamberlain, South Dakota.  He co-authored the paperback book Zuzeca the Snow Snake: A Native American Story for the Young at Heart. Later in life he regularly traveled by train to Philadelphia to work on the famous Wanamaker Organ.  He was part of the team that readied the pipe organ for Wanamaker Organ Days concerts.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on October 28th at 10:30 a.m. St. George Melkite Catholic Church, 1617 West State Street in Milwaukee.
