Edward Joseph
Mikush
Feb 12, 1925 — Jan 25, 2021
Died January 25, 2021 at the age of 95 years. Preceded in death by his wife Betty Jane (nee Reidy). Survived by his children Robert (Debbi) Mikush and Marianne (Jeff) Fisher, grandchildren Jaime Mikush, Brigitte (Andrew) Gilson, and Michael (Amanda) Fisher, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. We would like to add a special "thank-you" to Dorothy Couillard for lighting up his life for the last couple of years.
Ed retired after many years of employment at the Harnischfeger Corporation and served his country during World War II in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater. Throughout his long life, Ed volunteered in numerous organizations including the Boy Scouts, Milwaukee Irish Fest, the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Irish Arts, and the Shamrock Club of Wisconsin. He was an avid volleyball and softball player and played on a Gold Medal winning team in the Senior Olympics. In 2009, he joined fellow veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials to those who had so proudly served.
Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and out of concern for his family and friends, a memorial service will be held later. His cremated remains will be inurned at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Dover, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center of Wisconsin, Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), or the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight are appreciated.
