Milwaukee – Joanne Dyskow died on April 11, 2022 at the age of 91.  She was born in Milwaukee on August 30, 1930, the daughter of Gertrude and Joseph E. Dyskow.  Both preceded her in death.

Joanne earned a Bachelor's Degree from Cardinal Stritch University in 1952 and a Master's Degree in English from Marquette University in 1961.  She then became an instructor in the English Department at Marquette before joining the faculty at MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering) in 1965.

Joanne retired from MSOE in 2006 after 41 years of service in the General Studies Department where she eventually became a Professor.  She taught various English courses as well as German and fine arts.  She also served on the Library and Fine Arts Committees and helped run the United Performing Arts Fund.  She was committed to introducing young people to the arts.

Prior to beginning her teaching career at Marquette and MSOE, Joanne taught in high school and then went to Munich, Germany where she became a language translator at the Transtimber Corporation.  She also taught English at Dahls Sprachen Institute.  While in Germany, she traveled extensively in Europe.

Special thanks to the personnel at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus and St. Croix Hospice for their kind and loving care.  A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Mary's Church (919 Main Street, Palmyra, WI 53156) followed by interment at the church cemetery.
