Obituary

Karen Marie Jason, (Nee Maenpaa), 58, passed at home with her family around her and went home to the Lord and her loved ones who were waiting on July 2, 2022. Karen was Born October 11, 1963, in Crystal Falls, MI to Lauri and Thelma Maenpaa. Karen was the second youngest of 7 and loved all her siblings. Karen grew up with the love of the outdoors, enjoying the football games at the local high school, hiking the back rivers and parks. Karen followed her family to Milwaukee as a young girl and later, met and fell in love with Rudolph Kure (deceased), and settled down to raise her girls, Angela Clabaugh and Tricia Chapek (Deceased). Later in her life, Karen married again to Don Jason, and together they welcomed Brandon to the family. Together they raised Joshua Richardson, and Brandon Jason. Once on her own, Karen had Tyler Thompson and Karen's family was complete. Karen then met and stayed with her longtime friend, Daniel Rose who went on many biker events and loved to ride motorcycles. Karen loved her cats especially her Danielle, and throughout her life rescued many. Karen enjoyed the parks with family on a weekend and cooking. She was a great cook and loved when family came over, Karen would get to work making enchiladas that she was famous for.  Karen's love of cooking brought the family over for visits and boy she could cook!

Karen had her battles and throughout years they took a toll on her health. Karen did things and said things her way. To know her was to love her! Some say she was cranky, but that was just her way. Karen was straight forth and said what she thought. There was nothing that stopped her when she went walking. Karen loved to walk! Rain or snow she loved to walk, and she would show off her walking legs. Karen loved her nails and was gifted with beauty and style. She would turn heads when she walked into the room. Her smile was illuminating, and she had the most beautiful smile that would light up a room.  Karen was never vain and took it in stride. She was natural and extremely down to earth. Karen enjoyed dancing and loved the night life. Dancing at the old Park Avenue to the Papagio night club the night was endless dancing and fun.  Karen enjoyed family events and loved to be surrounded by her children and grandchildren. They came first. She loved her grandchildren and was so proud of her grown children and all they did.

Karen's illness never stopped her and as time went by, she became sicker she would never complain but as we the family saw, she was slowing down. When Karen lost her daughter, Tricia Chapek, Karen never bounced back. Her loss was too great, and she let go of her will.

Karen Marie Jason leaves behind a loving family, her children Angela Clabaugh (Brad), Joshua Richardson, Brandon Jason and Tyler Thompson (Adoptive mom Rose Thompson).  Toby Chapek , Her grandchildren Carter, Chloe, Carson and Everly. Siblings Micheal Frostell, David (Cynthia) Maenpaa, Larry Maenpaa, Melvin Maenpaa , Dale Maenpaa (Paula), Faye (Jack) Maliszewski. Nieces, Nephews, tons of cousins and friends.

The Family wants to say thank you to St Luke's Hospital ICU staff for their amazing care for her while in their stay and the Holistic Hospice that went above and beyond to expedite, honor, care, comfort and support that they gave to Karen in her final days. To James Valona, our advisor, friend and family member, who walked us through this hard time. Held our hands and eased the process of medical terminology, home health care and setting it up for us with Holistic Hospice.
