Marjorie May
Bowen
May 26, 1924 — Jun 26, 2020
With our hearts broken, we announce the death of our beloved Marjorie (nee Martens) on the 26 th of June, 2020 at the age of 96. She is now able to join her cherished husband of 60 years, Don, in heaven, and share again in his love and gentle humor.
Following her graduation from Rufus King High School, Marjorie (Marge) was a valued employee at Glen Falls Insurance Company, where she worked for several years. She married Don in 1947, and soon after had two sons, Donald (the late Pamela), and David (Cheryl Peterson)who are now left in sadness without the benefit of her loving guidance and support.
Her grandchildren, Heather (Bill) Lopp and Erin (Kerry) Peters will treasure the time and attention she showered endlessly upon them. Marge shared her love of music with all, playing piano at many family events and teaching family members how to play. She inspired Heather to a career in music, starting Heather on playing the piano, and bestowing on her a great love of singing. Any activity- music, drama, sport or academic endeavor that was important to her granddaughters, became important to Marge.
Her great-grandchildren, Cameron and Chelsea, had many wonderful years with Nana. Their close and special relationship has brought them much love and will provide them with such happy memories. Many of the best memories will be of the great times they shared at Disney World, one of their favorite places to be together. Her youngest great-grandchild, Clayton, brought her special joy with his radiant smiles.
Marge was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and a cherished aunt to many family members. Special thanks to Susie, Roger and all the staff at Clifden Court for their love, care and support in her later years. Also, later in life, Marjorie acquired the "adopted" family of Marshall and Sha 'Nese, Marshall, Angelica and Alivia. So much love and kindness was shared together that each family was forever blessed.
Marge was the planner, the decorator, the chef and the baker for hundreds of wonderful family celebrations. She loved being with family for holidays, especially Christmas. Marge inspired most of the family traditions that the entire family now treasures. We will use these traditions to remember her always with love and happiness. Every single holiday has special treats, traditions and memories because of Marge's efforts. She showed her love and joy through her amazing cooking and baking skills, her tiny cookies and her beautiful tortes, her famous fruitcakes and her delicious roast turkey dinners.
No services are planned. A memorial celebration will be held when the world is a safer place.
Until we can all be together again, Marge, we love you.
