Obituary

MATTHEW J. COOK

09/24/1984 (Antigo, WI) – 02/03/2025 (Milwaukee, WI)

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Matthew J. Cook, a man of optimistic dreams, a generous heart, a mischievous charm, and a love for his sons that knew no bounds. Though life brought its share of struggles, he faced each day with hope, always reaching for a better future for himself and his boys.

Gifted with a natural talent for mechanics, Matt found purpose in the world of asphalt paving, a trade he dedicated much of his adult life to in various roles and that he took great pride in.

But his favorite role was being a "Daddy". His three young sons were his greatest source of love and motivation. No matter the distance or the hardships, his heart belonged to them. He dreamed endlessly of giving them the world, and though he may no longer be with us, the love he had for them will forever remain.

Matt is survived by his sons, Benjamin (9), Zachary (9), and Levi (4); his wife, Tracy Cook; his mother and step-father, Lisa and Jerry Lewis; his sisters Ashley Lewis and Melissa (Eric) Jorgenson; his nephew and niece, Braeden and Becca Dorn; and those who saw the light in him even through the darkest times. He was preceded in death by his father, Osie Cook Jr.; grandparents, Carol and Osie Cook Sr. and Walter and Phyllis Dobson; and cousin, Justin Dobson. He is now at peace, his struggles behind him, leaving behind memories of his charm, his resilience, and his unwavering dreams.

A service will be held for family and friends Saturday, Feb 15th at Brett Funeral Home; Visitation from 11am-12, Memorial Service at Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by extending kindness and charity to those who struggle, believing—as he did—that everyone deserves a chance to find their way.
