Roosevelt
Robinson
Sep 11, 1933 — Jul 24, 2019
Roosevelt Robinson, Jr. was born to Lillie Ann and Roosevelt Robinson, Sr. on September 11, 1933 in a little town in Arkansas, the only child born of that union. He was raised by his grandparents, Miles and Eddie May Dunn where the name Peter (Pete) Dunn, originated. The name "Boppie" was lovingly chosen by his Milwaukee family in place of "grandpa."
He moved to Milwaukee in May 1952, where he met and married Barnetta Pegues in May 1954, from whose union was born: Dennis, Denise, Colleen, Crystal, Stacy, and Paula.
July 1963, he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Roosevelt loved Jehovah God and His Son, Jesus Christ, and looked forward to the promise held out to all obedient mankind ---the assured hope of a resurrection here on earth by means of Jesus. He shared that deeply held hope with as many as would listen.
May 1970, he married Hattie Walls, who brought into this marriage a daughter, Cynthia.
Pete was a kind, gentle and exceptionally punctual man with a subtle sense of humor, known to always say "Hello" or give a big wave to anyone he met. He kept in touch, until his death, with school mates and old friends all over the country.
Love for his family, and having something to share with others, moved him to show how much he cared in any way that he could. He was a hard worker from the early days on the farm, to the foundries, to Wisconsin Gas Company, to school bus driving.
Definitely old school, Pete liked classic Blues from Lightnin' Slim, Bobbie Blue Bland and B.B. King. He was known to love a good Western or two, as well. He loved fishing and was famous for deep frying whole turkeys.
